Betting Odds for Tommy McCarthy v Matty Askin

Tommy McCarthy [9(5)-0] will go into the biggest fight of his career as the favourite.

The Belfast star faces English champion Matty Askin [20(13)-3(1)-1]  in Manchester on Saturday night in a British cruiserweight title final eliminator. The winner of the bill-topping clash at the Victoria Warehouse will face Welshman Craig Kennedy for the vacant title next year.

The two share a common opponent in Jon Lewis Dickinson. Askin was defeated on points in an English title clash back in 2012, while McCarthy floored and outpointed the Newcastle boxer earlier this year in what would turn out to be his last bout before retirement.

Bookmakers have made ‘The Mac Attack’ the favourite for the ten-round clash, and the best price for McCarthy is 4/7 with Paddy Power.

By comparison, Askin can be had as wide as 19/11 with Marathon Bet, and is 6/4 generally.

A draw between the two big men is 22/1 (general).

More markets (round betting, method of victory etc) are expected to be released in the coming days.
