Mick Conlan makes big money for charity with online auction of prized memorabilia
Mick Conlan jets out to California next month to begin training for his pro debut under coach Manny Robles – and the Belfast super bantam plans to travel light.
Over the past week, Conlan has been playing the role of online auctioneer, and has sold numerous items of memorabilia from his time as an elite amateur. The 25 year old is not looking to raise a few quid for himself though, and the money raised is going to a selection of charities.
Over the course of the auction, Conlan gave away six lots of boxing collectibles, including the vest he won Commonwealth gold in and the shorts he qualified for the Rio Games in.
A grand total of £1,810 (€2,130) was raised for charity, with the money being distributed as follows:
Northern Ireland Childrens’ Hospice – ÂŁ560
Aware NI – ÂŁ200
Rory’s Wish to Walk – ÂŁ325
Solving Kids’ Cancer – ÂŁ225
Little DaithĂ Mac Gabhann – ÂŁ500
