WATCH: Katie Taylor Leads Tributes To Recently Retired Michael Conlan
Katie Taylor led the tributes to Michael Conlan upon her fellow Irish greats retirement.
The Irish Icon heralded her former Irish international teammate as an ‘Irish Sporting Legend’ and claimed the Belfast star was an ‘inspiration’.
Taylor, who medaled in London 2012 alongside Conlan, was speaking in a video published online by Irish-boxing.com paying homage to one of Irish boxing’s greatest careers.
Another former teammate, Tommy McCarthy, weighed in with positive words, as did Harlem Eubank, Steven Ward, Conrad Cummings, Padraig McCrory, Paddy Gallagher, Tyrone McKenna, Jazza Dickens and more.
Conlan retired moments after he suffered defeat to Kevin Walsh a couple of weeks ago. He remains Ireland’s only Irish male World Championship gold medal winner and won Olympic bronze in 2012.
As a pro, the 34-year-old fought for a world title twice, topped bills in Madison Square Garden, Belfast, Dublin, and in Britain.
