Next weekend in California, Jason Quigley [11(9)-0] takes part in the final big Irish fight of 2016.
The Donegal middleweight takes on Puerto Rican knockout artist Jorge Melendez [30(28)-7(4)-1] at The Forum in Inglewood on Saturday, December 17th.
The bout is part of the undercard for ‘The Final 1’ – Bernard Hopkins’s last fight, which will be against Irish-American light heavyweight Joe Smith Jr.
Also featuring on the packed undercard is WBO cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk who defends his title against South African Thabiso Mchunu, as well as JoJo Diaz, Christian Gonzalez, Joet Gonzalez, Yamaguchi Falcao, Carlos Morales, Ivan Delgado, and Ryan Garcia.
The ren-round bout for Quigley is a second consecutive big fight for the Ballybofey fighter, who comprehensively outpointed James De La Rosa on the Canelo Alvarez v Amir Khan.
To promote the fight, Golden Boy have released a promotional video which features interviews from Quigley and trainer Manny Robles, as well as footage of the Irishman’s training.
