Saunders comes through warm-up bout unscathed

Billy Joe Saunders shook off the ring rust last night with a fourth round stoppage over French journeyman Yoann Bloyer at the Wembley Arena.

The Englishman challenges for Andy Lee’s WBO middleweight title on September 19th in Thomond Park, however he had been out of action since last November when he outpointed Chris Eubank Jr. over twelve grueling rounds.

The fight against Bloyer was more of a formality, with Saunders dropping the overmatched Frenchman with a right uppercut at the end of the third before finishing him the following round.

With the facile win, Saunders improved his record to 22(12)-0, however he will face a much stiffer test in Limerick in September against fellow southpaw Lee.
