Ryan Burnett to fight for World title in Belfast

The Sky cameras are coming back to Belfast!

It has been confirmed this afternoon that Ryan Burnett [16(9)-0] will challenge for the IBF bantamweight title in his native Belfast on Saturday June 10th

The 24 year old will take on reigning champ Lee Haskins [34(14)-3(3)] at the SSE Odyssey Arena live on Sky Sports

Bristolian Haskins last defended the belt against Stuey Hall in September on the Golovkin-Brook undercard and subsequently would pull out of a scheduled defence against Japanese fighter Shohei Omori in December due to a leg injury.

The Adam Booth-trained Burnett has won and defended the British title since linking up with Matchroom, defeating Jason Booth and Ryan Farrag respectively. His last fight, in February, saw him outpoint Mexican Joseafat Reyes.

It is a first Sky card in Ireland since Matthew Macklin v Jorge Sebastian Heiland in November 2014, and a first Sky card in Belfast since Carl Frampton defeated Kiko Martinez for the European title in February 2013.

First details of the undercard will be revealed next Wednesday when the pair come face to face at the launch press conference for the fight.

Tickets will go on sale to Matchroom Fight Pass members on Wednesday May 3rd, with tickets on general sale the following day (Thursday May 4th) – full ticket details will be released soon.
