Que Sera, Sera – Failed scan forces opponent change for Chris Blaney

Chris Blaney [4(2)-0] will have to adjust to a late change of opponent for his fight on Saturday night.

The Navan boxer fights on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Unfinished Business’ card this weekend and was due to face Oladimeji Akinde [3(0)-3(0)-3] in what would have been his final four rounder.

However, the Nigerian has been forced to pull out of the fight due to a failed brain scan.

A replacement has been quickly sourced for Blaney, and the ‘Ginga Ninja’ will now face Hungarian Zoltan Sera [27(18)-11(7)].

The 31 year old Budapest boxer is a former Hungarian middleweight champion and has faced, and lost to, a number notable names. These include Adam Etches (TKO4), Caleb Plant (TKO1), Liam Smith (TKO3), and Joe Selkirk (TKO3).

An unorthodox, wild opponent, the Magyar is, in a way, a dangerous test for the inexperienced Blaney who will do well to look good in the scheduled four rounder.

While Akinde may have provided a more aesthetically-pleasing fight, the fact remains that it will still be toughest test of Blaney’s short career thus far as well as offering an opportunity for comparison with some big names.

Also featuring on the Luke Keeler v Lewis Taylor-topped card will be Eric Donovan, Lynn Harvey, Stevie Collins, Craig O’Brien, Connor Coyle, Noely Murphy, Jay Byrne, Allan Phelan. and debutant Thomas Finnegan.

Tickets cost €40 (unreserved) and €60 (ringside) and can be bought from the boxers on the bill.
