Purse Bid Deadline set for Munguia-Hogan World Title clash

DDP Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions have until next Tuesday [March 5th] to agree a fight between reigning WBO light middleweight champion Jaime Munguia and mandatory challenger Dennis Hogan.

If the promotional outfits can’t agree terms, the bout will go to purse bids and the promoter who lodges the highest bid will earn the right to promote the fight.

Irish-Boxing.com are aware talks have been ongoing for almost on a month and this day last week an agreement was very close to being made.

Negotiations haven’t stalled, but a few bumps in the road seemed to have slowed both from reaching the final destination that is a signed contract.

Last week it seemed as if ‘The Hurricane’, who has been waiting patiently for his shot, was content to go to America and fight the young champione, but no deal has been announced and the WBO have released details of purse bids.

Team Hogan have a purse bids contingency plan in place. They would prefer to reach an agreement, but have been exploring the option of bringing the Mexican to Australia with the Gold Coast and Brisbane both options for the bout.

Indeed, with local government support Down Under, the Paul Keegan-led outfit are confident of defeating Oscar De La Hoya’s promotional behemoth in a purse bid situation/

However, they were willing to travel to America if the right deal was put on the table and are even willing to allow Munguia have a voluntary in Mexico before he defends against the Irishman.

The WBO released the following for the benefit of all promoters today.
