Pride wants the winner of ‘The Lion’ versus ‘Mr’ Jones

ANTHONY Fitzgerald has targeted a big light middleweight clash between Brian Rose versus Carson Jones.

‘The Pride of Dublin’ has dropped down in weight since his reverse to Cork rival Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan last November and isn’t planning on working his way up the rankings via journey man opposition.

At 30 the Dubliner isn’t keen to hang around and he wants a big name scalp sooner rather than latter. Rose was the muted as a potential opponent if he came through the ‘Spike’ clash and considering the former World title challenger is also rebuilding ‘Fitzy’ claims it is a bout that still makes sense.

Rose would have to successful avenge his first round stoppage reverse to current WBC International champ Jones on August 1 for that clash to happen, but Fitzgerald wants the winner regardless.

Speaking to Irish-boxing.com the former Irish champion said:

“I’d like the winner of the Brian Rose and Carson Jones fight. I’d love the winner of that so I’ll sit down with my management and see what they say. If they can make it they will make it and if Eddie (Hearn) wants it we will take it.

“We were meant to get it after the Spike fight. If I’d have won that fight we’d have got it unfortunately we didn’t win the Spike fight and he (Brian Rose) didn’t win then so he’s building back up and now he has his rematch with Jones. We have built back up so why not give me the winner of the two of them.”
