Perez to fight former champ Povetkin for the right to challenge WBC Champ Wilder

MIKE Perez the Cuban that fights out of Cork has secured a second World title eliminator.

The talented heavyweight, who disappointed against Bryan Jennings in a fight for the right to challenge WBA, WBO and IBF Champ Wladimir Klitschko last July will fight Alexander Povetkin and the winner will become mandatory for WBC belt holder Deontay Wilder.

The contracts are not signed but the fight has been agreed to, according to Perez promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.

Perez, 29, goes into the clash on the back of a ‘warm win’ over Darnell ‘Ding a Ling’ Wilson and has been working with Robert Garcia since his Jennings reverse.

Russia’s Povetkin represents the best opponent ‘The Rebel’ has faced he held a version of the World title and his sole reverse comes against Wladimir Klitschko. Povetikin also stopped Carlos Takam who Perez drew with in his first fight after injuring Magomed Abdusalamov.
