National Elite Senior Championships – DAY 3 RESULTS

The semi-finals of the 2018 Liffey Crane Hire National Senior Elite Championships concluded at the National Stadium tonight and we now know the line-up for next week’s final.

Underage sensation Michael Nevin took a count against the nuclear-punching Gerard French but recovered to take a win and set up a middleweight final with Brett McGinty, who overcame Kelyn Cassidy.

At heavyweight in the battle to take over from Darren O’Neill, Kevin Sheehy overcame the game Liam Greene, while Kiril Afanasev impressively stopped Jason Barron

The closest fights of the night came at light heavyweight with Brian Kennedy and Caoimhin Hynes proceeding to the finals, claiming wins over Karol Blugosz and last year’s runner-up Tony Browne respectively.

In the closig bout of the session, defending super heavyweight champion Martin Keenan set up a final against Dean Gardiner – a repeat of their infamous box-off last Summer – with a win over James McDonnell.

There were also wins for Shannon Sweeney, Carol Coughlan, Ciara Ginty, and defending welterweight champion Grainne Walsh.

The finals take place at the National Stadium next Saturday, with live coverage on RTÉ
