Ray Moylette will get Ireland’s European Championship campaign underway with a preliminary round bout against Israel in Ankara, Turkey tomorrow.
The St Anne’s Westport light-welterweight, a gold medal winner at the 2008 AIBA World Championships, will meet Subhin Amara on Friday afternoon.
John Joe Nevin, Willie McLaughlin, Con Sheehan and Cathal McMonagle will be in action Saturday.
Kilkenny middleweight Darren O’Neill, who is Irish team captain in Ankara, will face Germany’s Denis Radovan, an opponent he beat 18-5 in Germany last month, on Sunday.
Michael Conlon and Michael McDonagh will also be between the ropes Sunday. Conlon has been drawn against Birmingham flyweight Khalid Yafai.
AIBA World Youth champion Joe Ward received a bye into the last-16 and will meet Ainar Karlson of Estonia on Monday.
Karlson was beaten 7-4 by Ken Egan in the quarter-finals of the 2010 European Championships in Moscow.
Boxing begins at 12 noon (Irish time) on Friday, followed by the Opening Ceremony.
