Lee beats Sual Duran with ease

The fighter Emanuel Steward calls his ‘left handed  Hearn’ beat a fighter called Duran in Detroit last night.

Andy Lee made short work of Saul Duran in their middleweight clash.

The Limerick native stopped The Mexican after less than a minute into the second round and is now targeting a June 2 world title fight with Julio Cesar Chavez jr.

The Irishman had admitted in the build-up to the bout that he viewed this a ‘club fight’, designed to keep him busy as he bides his time for a title shot, and so it proved to be.

The 39-year-old Duran never troubled Lee and the Kronk Gym fighter afterwards admitted that he was disappointed the fight didn’t go on longer.

“They should have let the fight go longer,” said Lee.

“Let him get knocked out. A lot of people came to watch this fight. I would have liked more of a contest. But he took the fight at short notice, so I kind of understand.”
