Hyland: I’m ready to prove I’m one of the best feathers’ in the World

PATRICK Hyland misses the taste of leather and can’t wait to get back in the ring and sink his teeth into some big fights.

The Punisher hasn’t traded leather since his WBA interim World title points loss to Javier Fortuna in New York back in December of 2012 and is itching to get back into action.

After sorting out contractual issues the Tallaght native has signed with Lou DiBella and secured a July 23 date.

The 29 year old featherweight is now looking forward to riding himself of the ring rust he has built up over the last year and half next month, before going on to prove himself one of the best at his weight in the world.

“It has been frustrating,” Hyland told World Boxing News.

“I have been out for so long due to contract issues with my old promoters, but it is great to finally have a fight lined up.

“I didn’t need a break from boxing, but I am glad to be back. I will be staying at featherweight for my next fight. I have no opponent yet, that news should come sometime this week.

“I just want to get the fight on the 23rd out of the way, then stay busy and hopefully push for titles after a few fights.

Lining up with Lou Dibella and TEAM DBE is great for me and the best move I could have made. Lou will keep me busy and I feel can get me big fights. I am very excited to see how things play out from here.

I can’t wait to get back in the ring again, taste some leather again, get some big fights and prove I am one of the best featherweights in the World.”
