Frampton eager to set the record straight

Carl Frampton wants to put Scott Quigg behind him and is adamant he will prove he is the better of the super bantamweights come February 27.

‘The Jackal’ has been talking about the Bury native since the turn of the decade and has been constantly linked with the Matchroom fighter since he turned over.

The IBF champion is now eager to put Quigg to bed be it by putting him to sleep or out pointing him in Manchester and claims he will prove once and for all he is superior to the WBA belt holder.

“I just want to put the record straight and put this to bed. People think that Scott Quigg is a better fighter than me – but I know he is not. And I will go out and prove that,” Frampton told the Belfast Newsletter.

The undefeated 28 year old MBE believes his first round display against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr on the same night Quigg stopped Kiko Martinez is the reason Team Quigg have finally agreed to take the clash, but warns he won’t make the mistakes he made in Texas last July in Manchester next February.

“I was too relaxed that night against Gonzalez and I remember seeing him walking about the hotel and thinking he was tall and skinny.

“I was not totally on the job and I will not make that mistake again.

“Quigg’s people are only taking this fight because of that first round against Gonzalez but after that first round the next 11 were near perfect. I will not make the same mistake in Manchester.”
