Carl Frampton believes new trainer Jamie Moore is “the perfect fit”
Carl Frampton didn’t need long to decide on linking up with new trainer Jamie Moore.
‘The Jackal’ officially confirmed yesterday that he has joined forces with the Salford 38 year old as he begins a new chapter of his career away from the McGuigan family.
Frampton [23(14)-1(0)] had been trained by close friend Shane McGuigan, winning three world titles across two weights, but this relationship was ended last month alongside his association with Cyclone Promotions and manager Barry McGuigan.
He will now be trained by the former Irish, British, Commonwealth, and European champion and, for Frampton, it ended up being an easy decision to make.
Indeed, Moore was the first trainer trialed by the Belfast man and, after just a few days, Frampton knew he had found his man.
Initially suggested by Frampton’s father Craig, the Tigers Bay 30 year old believes he has found his ‘perfect fit’ in the Sky Sports pundit.
Describing the link-up, Frampton told Sky Sports how “we gelled well, I like the atmosphere in the gym and I like the guys around it and I like the way he approaches training, so that was it.”
“Jamie was the first trainer I tried and after a few days, I just started to think ‘I don’t need to try anyone else’.”
“Because of the type of person I am, Jamie is the perfect fit.”
“You need a trainer you can trust and I had one very good trainer in Shane, so I had to find another one.”
“I need one that if things aren’t going right, when I get back to the corner, I will hopefully get good advice that I will try and follow.”
