Carl Frampton explains reason behind MTK choice
It was announced this afternoon that Carl Frampton has linked up with Mack The Knife Global, taking on the Irish managerial outfit in an advisory capacity.
The Belfast featherweight confirmed his split with the McGuigan family last month, and MTK represent another piece of his new team.
Now being trained by Jamie Moore, and with his promotional future still to be confirmed, Frampton [23(14)-1(0)] has explained that he believes MTK will help him secure a good deal with one of the bevvy of hungry promoters looking to snap him up.
Both Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren have both publicly expressed their interest in the Tigers Bay 30 year old, and their are sure to be keen parties Stateside as well
“I’m hoping with MTK now we can get the right fights and the right promotional deal,” said Frampton.
“There was always the possibility that I could go my own way, but to have someone on your side advising you and getting you the best deal possible is always important and I feel Matthew Macklin and MTK Global can definitely do that.”
“MTK are a relatively new organisation and recently celebrated their fifth anniversary. But if you look at what they have already done, they have big-name fighters like Billy Joe Saunders and recruited a lot of boxers from Ireland and I feel that they can get me the best deal with a promoter.”
Frampton joins over 25 other Irish fighters on the books of the Puerto Banus-based company, which has expanded rapidly in its short existence. These include his Best Man Paddy Barnes as well the Conlan brothers and former sparring partners Stephen Ormond and Davey Oliver Joyce.
‘The Jackal’ added that “I listened to everyone before making my decision.”
“If you look at what’s going on at the moment, they are the best in the business and getting their boxers involved in some really big fights and it’s only going to continue and keep getting better.”
