Boxers on the box – Katie Taylor and Brendan Irvine to appear on the Late Late

Katie Taylor and Brendan Irvine will appear on the Late Late Show tonight.

It’s not quite boxing on the box but it’s still positive to see two of our pugilists on the Friday night TV staple.

Both appear on the Ryan Turiby hosted show, the final Late Late installment of the season.

The ‘Wee Roster’ appears alongside his fellow Team Ireland athletes as they enter the final weeks of preparation for Tokyo 2021.

The Belfast flyweight will be joined by Natalya Coyle (modern pentathlon), Nhat Hguyen (badminton), Aoife Cooke (marathon runner), and Rhys McClenaghan (gymnast), as they discuss their journey to the Olympics.

Trica Heberle, Chef de Mission Team Ireland, and Peter Sherrard, CEO of the Olympic Federation of Ireland, will also be in the studio to discuss the unprecedented hurdles faced to get to the Olympic Games this year.

Taylor will appear for the first time since she surprised underage prospect Ella Thompson on the Late Late Toy Show in December of 2019.

The undisputed lightweight world champion and Olympic gold medallist Katie Taylor will speak to Tubridy for her first in-depth Late Late Show interview since turning professional five years ago.

Taylor is expected to return to the ring in Leeds in September as she populates the undercard of Josh Warrington’s reamtch with  Mauricio Lara.
