ANDY Lee is the new WBO World middleweight champion.
The Limerick puncher hit the jackpot after stopping two time World amateur Matt Korobov in the sixth round of a Las Vegas hosted fight night.
Lee unleashed a devastating right hook in the sixth round and then landed 18 successive punches to secure the belt.
The Adam Booth trained fighter becomes Ireland’s 21st World champion and joins Carl Frampton as a reigning Irish champion of the World.
Speaking directly after the bout Lee, who is mandated to defended against Billy Joe Saunders, said he wants to make a defense in Ireland and paid homage to current trainer Adam Booth and former trainer Emanuel Steward.
