Jason Quigley reveals short-term World Title plan

Jason Quigley [16(12)-0] has been told he is just three wins away from a world title shot.
The Donegal fighter will box at theĀ Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino on Thursday July 18th against former Eamonn O’Kane foeĀ Tureano Johnson [20(14)-2(2)-1].
It’s the kind of fight the WBC #5-ranked middleweight has been looking for and one that provides him with the chance to take a significant step toward a coveted world title shot.
Indeed, the Dominic Ingle-trained 160lbs fighter believes the bout, which looks to be the toughest of his career on paper, will be step one of three along the path to a tilt.
āI was in LA recently and met with Golden Boy Promotions and we have a three-or-four-fight plan now to get to a world title,” outlined Quigley.
āIām on an amazing journey and to be possibly three fights away from a world title fight is so exciting things for everyone following me.”
āEvery professional boxer wants their hands on a belt. Itās brilliant to have a belt, but Iām searching and driving for world title belts.ā
āIām moving forward and progressing. Iām ready for action again. Iām excited now to get my title chase up and running.ā
The WBC belt is currently held by Canelo Alvarez – a promotional stablemate of Quigley who also holds the IBF and WBA straps. Demetrius Andrade then holds the WBO title. Both, and Quigley, are aligned to the big-money DAZN streaming platform.
Quigley-Johnson will be the main event of a Golden Boy Boxing on DAZN fight card and will see the Ballybofey boxer defend his WBC-affiliated NABF rankings belt for a second time following gruelling wins over Glen Tapia and Freddy Hernandez.
āItās always exciting when thereās a belt on the line,ā Quigley said.
āThe belt is like a piece of furniture in the house and no-one will take it away easy. These are stepping stones to where I want to get and these are the belts that will help me get the one I really want.”
āIām very excited where Iām going. Iām coming near the pinnacle of my career and this is the exciting part of it.”
