Frampton tipping Ormond to beat Appleby
By Jonny Stapleton
Carl Frampton is backing Stephen Ormond to defeat Paul Appleby in Glasgow tomorrow night, quite literally.
Frampton has had first glove experience of the Dubliner having sparred him in preparation for Ormond’s break through fight and has been tempted by the 2/1 odds quoted for the Clondalkin fighter to win win.
Indeed the talented super bantamweight Commonwealth title holder, who makes a second defence of his title on the  March 17 Kell Brook and Matthew Hatton Card, doesn’t just think the Pascal Collins trained 28 year old can beat the Scot, but believes has the potential to register a award latent career.
The fighter, who himself has been tipped for world honours, believes Ormond is one of Ireland’s sleeping boxing giants.
“There is no doubt about it Stephen Ormond is looking sharp. He is a great talent. The odds of 2/1 certainly look appealing. I believe he will do the business on Saturday. He has a style that will trouble Appleby,” Frampton told www.irish-boxing.com before further waxing lyrical.
“Ormond is one of our best prospects. I personally love his style. I love to watch it and spar against it. I think he is excellent. It is a shame he is not that well known outside the boxing community, but that can all be changed by a win on Saturday.”
