Irish teen gets career off to perfect start in Las Vegas

He is too young to drink or gamble. but that didn’t stop Aaron McKenna celebrating in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

The teen had cause to party after he finally registered his first pro win and became Ireland’s youngest current pro fighter.

The 18 year old, who has been working toward a pro debut for over 12 months, was set to trade leather for the first time at Madison Square Garden on the undercard of Miguel Cotto’s farewell fight.

However, suffered early doors what most pro’s suffer at least once in their career, a late cancellation. The Sheer Sports managed Golden Boy Promoted Monaghan fighter had Christmas saved as he was given a Vegas date and a chabce to get off the mark just a week later.

The former European Youth silver medalists oblidged ensured Travis Conley was his first pro victim.

McKenna managed a shut out 40-36 points win   at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino on the undercard of  Orlando Salido’s bout with Miguel Roman.
