Conor McGregor’s fight with Floyd Mayweather is good for boxing as long as the Dubliner doesn’t win, according to Ireland’s leading puncher at present Carl Frampton.

Former Crumlin amateur and two weight UFC World Champion McGregor faces legendary undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas on August 26- and there has been mixed views from both fans about the dust up between the stars of different foes.

Former two weight World champion, Frampton, who returns to Belfast to fight on July 29 see’s the positives in the event and feels it’s a positive for boxing.

However, like the majority of boxers  ‘The Jackal’ believes a ‘Notorious’ win wouldn’t be good for the sweet science, suggesting it would make boxers look like ‘mugs’.

“I don’t think the fight is bad for boxing,” he said. “It’s an event that people want to see. It gets people talking about boxing – so how can that be bad for boxing?

“I think Mayweather versus McGregor cannot be anything but good for boxing – unless McGregor wins.

“And then it is bad because we all look like mugs, do you know what I mean? But I don’t think that he will.”
