Donaire open to Frampton fight but would prefer ‘Number 1’ at the weight

Former pound for pound #3 Nonito Donaire is the latest fighter to name drop Carl Frampton.

The Filipino Flash, who up and until he lost to Guillermo Rigondeaux was just behind Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather in the list of greatest fighters on the planet, is set to defend his WBO super bantamweight World title against Zsolt Bedak in Cebu this April.

If as expected he overcomes the little known Hungarian the 33 year old says Frampton will be on his radar.

“There are a lot of good fights in this weight class. We got Rigondeaux, Quigg, Frampton, Ruiz,” Donaire told Onthegrind radio.

“We have a lot of guys in this division that will make it a fun fight to watch. We might just fight a guy who is holding a title, it could be Frampton, or anybody who’s fighting for a title or who’s holding a title, as well as Rigondeaux because he’s the number one in the division and we’re always trying to be number one.
