UPDATED ENTRY LIST for 2019 National Elite Senior Championships

The entry list for the upcoming National Elite Senior Championships has ticked over the 100 mark.

Since publishing an entry list yesterday, the IABA have seen entries swell from 85 to 99 and now this morning to 101.

Thankfully there will no longer be a walkover for flyweight Niamh Earley, with Commonwealth silver medallist Carly McNaul joining her at 51kg.

The men’s lightweight division has seen the biggest change, with the field shrinking from five to two. It now looks like a straight final between David Oliver Joyce and Dominic Bradley, with reigning champ George Bates stepping up to the Olympic class of light welter along with Shane Flavin while Yannick Meseke looks to have withdrawn.

Joining Bates and Flavin at light welter will be Belfast’s Gerard Matthews – while Edward Barrett has been removed from the entry list.

Preliminaries will run this weekend with semi finals next weekend and a big finals night on Friday February 22nd.

The results over the next month will play a part in selection for the major tournaments scheduled for this year – European Games and World Championships for the men, and European Games, European Championships, and World Championships for the women.

Check out this evening for our full preview of every division.
