‘The Power’ Doheny to defend continental title in May
TJ Doheny will defend his PABA Super Bantamweight title in Australia on May 15.
The World ranked Portlaois native puts his belt on the line against Filipino Marco Demecillo at Club Punchbowl, Punchbowl, New South Wales, Australia.
It’s Doheny’s third defence of a title Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, the Thai fighter that ended Bernard Dunne’s reign as World champion, used to secure a World title shot. His previous defences ended in knock out victories and the Australian based Irish fighter has been that impressive he received an offer to challenge WBA regular champion Scott Quigg, only to rebuff it because of the short notice.
Demecillo comes to the ring with 20 victories and just three defeats one of which was a defeat to now WBA super flyweight interim champ David Sanchez in Mexico.
Doheny, who hopes to add experience to his World ranking in 2015, will be out again in July in Sydney.
