Sensational Spanish KO win for Matthew Macklin

Headliner Matthew Macklin brought the curtain down on an exciting night of boxing at the H10 Andalucia Plaza Hotel with a gut-wrenching first round knockout of Germany’s Chris Herrmann. While the Puerto Banús card had been titled ‘Lights Out at the Plaza,’ seven of the eight undercard fights went the distance – however ‘The Tipperary Tornado’ took less than two minutes to viciously dispatch his overmatched opponent.

The Birmingham-born middleweight began patiently, but soon smelt blood, cornering his opponent and unleashing a left hook to the body that lifted Herrmann off his feet and left him writhing in agony on the canvas.

The referee administered a count although it was hardly necessary, as Herman lay eviscerated on the floor.

After the stay-busy win, the three-time world title challenger improves his record to 33(22)-6(4) while Chris Herrmann falls to 19(10)-7(7)-1.

Buoyed by such an impressive victory, Macklin will now turn his attention to October 24th and Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena where he is scheduled to face Jason Welborn [17(6)-3(3)] in a make-or-break light middleweight contest.
