Peters takes risk with Dunne

Brian Peters has admitted that lining up Eduardo Garcia as Bernard Dunnes next opponent is a gamble but the promoter believes that it is one that he simply had to take.

Peters has been frustrated in his attempts to negotiate a shot at Rendall Munroes European super-bantamweight title for Dunne.

As a result, Peters has turned his attention to the world scene and believes that a victory over Garcia, who has won 18 of his 24 professional fights to date, would secure Dunne a lucrative bout with one of the 122lb-divisions champions.

It is obviously a risk but were hoping that it will prove a calculated one because it is effectively a world title eliminator, Peters argued.

We wanted a world-ranked fighter for Bernard and weve got one and this guys are real live wire.

If Im honest he wouldnt have been the first choice on our list but guys like Oliver Lontchi, Bryan Vazquez, Gary Stark, Sergio Medina and Ceferino Labarda all turned down the fight.

This guy is the definition of a dangerman. Hes derailed quite a few fighters with world title ambitions so hes going to be a real acid test for Bernard.

If Bernard can come through this then I think he hell have proved beyond doubt that hes ready for a World title fight.
