McBride faces Holden in Prizefighter

Kevin McBride has avoided the big guns in the draw for the Prizefighter: The Heavyweights IV which takes place on October 9.

The Clones native will square off with Michael Holden in the quarter-final of the eight man elimination competition which also involves Michael Sprott and Matt Skelton.

The draw was made by heavyweight legend Evander Holyfield in London and is as follows:

Michael Holden v Kevin McBride

Wildcard v Carl Baker

Michael Sprott v Danny Hughes

Matt Skelton v Ali Adams

Matchroom Sport who promote Prizefighter have said they are closing in on a big name to complete the line-up for the 14th outing of Barry Hearns eight-man, one night tournament, live on Sky Sports with the winner scooping 32,000.

McBride, who famously retired Mike Tyson will compete in the opening bout of the event against Manchesters Michael Holden a former British champion. The winner of that fight will face the winner of the second fight of the night as Carl Baker, the Wildcard fighter.

McBride returned to action this summer after a three year lay-off and looked rusty in dropping a points decision to Zack Page. But as Prizefighter has shown time and time again, anything can happen and in one night McBride could find himself on the cusp of another major fight.
