‘Lilywhite Lightning’ strikes – Eric Donovan clears path for Matchroom chance with Belgian win

Eric Donovan cleared the path to a big 2021 by securing victory in Belgium today.

The Kildare fighter had his hand raised after a six round contest in Fight Off Training Center, Wavre, Walloon Brabant, Belgium on the undercard of two Belgium title fights.

The 35-year-old out pointed the last man to bring MHD stablemate James Tennyson the distance, Rafael Castillo.

The Irish featherweight champion won every round against the Spain based Nicaraguan winning 60-54.

It was the Mark Dunlop managed fighters first contest since he suffered his first career defeat to Zelfa Barrett during Fight Camp.

The Pascal Collins trained operator has been assured of another Sky opportunity by Eddie Hearn and the returning to winning ways should clear that path for him to be involved in a ranking title fight, if Matchroom see fit.
