Irish boxers claim Triple Gold at Eindhoven Box Cup

Three Irish boxers topped the podiums today in the Netherlands at the Eindhoven Box Cup.

Michael Avetisian, Gabriel Dossen, and Tony Browne all won gold at the multi-nations tournament following three wins in three days for all three.

Swords light welter Avetisian beat Monaco’s Hugo Micallef on a 4-1 split to get the ball rolling for Ireland.

This was followed by a 3-2 win for Galway middle Dossen over Dutch #1 Max van der Pas.

The World and European Youth bronze medallist was also awarded the Best Boxer Award.

Rounding off the day was Rathmines heavyweight Browne who scored a unanimous win over French powerhouse Coupé Seydi.

Five Irish fighters entered the Box Cup and they will come away with three gold and one bronze, with Alanna Nihell, who celebrated her 33rd birthday this weekend, being eliminated in the semis yesterday.
