Barnes:You heard it here first my sparing partner Walsh will beat Nicola Adams

PADDY Barnes says his sparring partner and team mate Michaela Walsh will beat Nicola Adams if the pair trade leather in the Commonwealth Games final.

Walsh, who made history by fighting in the first ever female Commonwealth bout, has impressed her way to semi finals with wins over Thessa Dumas and  Sarah Joy Rae

Adams is in the opposing semi after she dispatched Oluwatoyin Oladeji and Erandi de Silva and if both win they would meet in the decider.

Adams has been heavily backed to win gold, out side of Katie Taylor she is the biggest name in female boxing and she too has looked impressive in her two bouts so far.

However, if the pair come through their respective semi finals and meet on Saturday Barnes has tipped a fighter who gives him problems in sparring to emerge victorious.

“What you saw from Michaela the other day is only a fraction of what she can do in the gym. Sparring me and she gives me problems. You can hear it from me first, Michaela will beat Nicola Adams,” he told reporters.
