Barnes suffers shock exit

PADDY Barnes dropped out of the AIBA World Championships and Olympic qualifiers following a surprise 20-12 defeat to Mark Anthony Barriga of the Philippines in Baku today.
The Belfast light-flyweight, the 2010 European champion, was favourite to advance to the last-16 of the competition, but Barriga claimed the first round 6-4 before extending his advantage to 13-8 by the end of the second en route to an eight point margin of victory.
