‘El Animal’ Quigley devours Mexican knockout artist

Jason Quigley made a statement tonight with a one round demolition of late replacement Freddy Lopez.

Fighting in a scheduled eight rounder for the first time, the Donegal middleweight took no time in taking out the Mexican knockout artist at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

The Golden Boy starlet had his man down twice in the opening stanza with hurtful right hooks to the body, forcing the contest to be waved off.

The quick win sees Quigley improve his perfect record to 10(9)-0, while Lopez drops to 9(7)-4(4).

The World Championships silver medalist certainly made a statement with the win, becoming the quickest man to finish the Mexican brawler.

The victory impressed those in attendance, and the RingTV commentators noted afterwards that ‘El Animal’ is in line for an ahead-of-schedule step up in class and hinted at a potential spot on the massive Canelo-Khan undercard.
