WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez [20(18)-0] would like to unify against Belfast’s Carl Frampton before moving up to the 130lbs class.

The Mexican double Olympian, who was defeated at the London Games by John Joe Nevin, was speaking following the press conference for his title defence against Japan’s Hiroshige Osawa on the Vargas-Pacquiao undercard in Vegas on November 5th.

The big-punching 25 year old also referenced a previous call-out from WBA champ Frampton [23(14)-0].

Speaking to FightHubTV, Valdez explained that “to go up to 130lbs right now would make it seem like I am ducking these great fights, these great fighters.”

“You’ve got a lot of great fighters out there, you’ve got great fights that can happen, but right now I’m focused on this guy Osawa.

“After that I can think about these fighters maybe unification fights, multiple belts.”

“Frampton, Lee Selby, or Gary Russell, if they offer, I will take it, I will more than gladly take it.”

In terms of ‘The Jackal’ specifically, Valdez noted how “Frampton and me, I would love that fight.”

“I’m not sure if this is very true, but someone told me that he had called me out before, that he said he wanted to fight me.”
