TV details confirmed for Frampton v Santa Cruz rematch

Carl Frampton’s WBA featherweight title rematch with Leo Santa Cruz will be shown live and exclusive in Ireland and the UK on Sky Sports.

‘The Jackal’ defends his belt for the first time on January 28th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The initial meeting between the pair was aired on Boxnation TV, but a repeat looked unlikely as the specialist channel had picked up the WBC super featherweight title fight between Francisco Vargas and Miguel Berchelt in Indio, California, which takes place at the same date and time.

Frampton is no stranger to appearing on Sky Sports, having frequently fought on the channel during his time with Matchroom, who hold an exclusive deal with the channel for boxing which takes place in the UK, as well as being part of a Sky Box Office pay-per-view extravaganza with Scott Quigg last year.

The WBC lightweight title fight between Dejan Zlaticanin and Mikey Garcia, which will act as chief support on the night, will also be shown.

Adam Smith, Head of Sky Sports Boxing described “we’re continuing a wonderful start to the year with Carl Frampton’s hotly-anticipated rematch against Leo Santa Cruz.

“They produced a classic fight in the summer and we are expecting even more fireworks in Las Vegas next month.

“It continues an exciting start to our schedule, with James DeGale kicking off 2017 with a super-middleweight world title unification clash against Badou Jack in New York on January 14, also live on Sky Sports.”
