Taylor retains pound-for-pound #1 status

Katie Taylor is still the greatest female fighter on the planet according to ESPN.

The undisputed lightweight champion retained top spot in the most recent ESPN women’s pound-for-pound rankings.

The Irish Icon regained #1 status by overtaking Claressa Shields in July of last year and has kept it since.

If the American’s fight with Savanah Marshall had gone ahead earlier this month and she had won, she may have threatened the Brian Peters managed stars’ number 1 status. However, as it, the Olympic gold medal winner from Bray still reigns at the top.

Taylor’s most recent rival Amanda Serrano solidified third spot with a win in Manchester last weekend. Delfine Persoon, who the Matchroom fighter traded leather with twice, is in ninth and another former rival Jessica McCaskill is in fourth.

Chantelle Cameron and Mikaela Mayer, two potential future rivals also populate the top 10.
