Taylor to fight Azerbaijan’s Yana Allekseevna in World championship final

Olympic champion Katie Taylor will be aiming for her fifth successive World lightweight title on the fifth bout of Monday’s program at the AIBA World Women’s Elite Championships in Jeju, South Korea.

TG4 will broadcast Monday’s finals live from Jeju. Broadcast begins at 5am (Irish time). Viewers can also catch up on today’s semi-finals featuring Katie Taylor versus China’s Yunhua Yin on TG4 at 5.30pm this afternoon.

Taylor, who is guaranteed to be taking home silver, meets Azerbaijan’s Yana Allekseevna in Monday’s 60kg final. Ukraine-born Allekseevna competed for the Ukraine as Yana Sydor until 2012.

The Irish squad are due to arrive home from South Korea at 5.40pm on Tuesday via Dublin Airport (Terminal 2).
