Boxing trainer Ronnie Shields told Willie Casey not to be embarrassed after his failed WBA title challenge in City West on Saturday night, as he lost to the future pound for pound champion of the world.
Shields, who has worked with Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield amongst others, consoled Big Bang by telling him he suffered defeat at the gloves of a special talent.
The former Golden Gloves winner, who now trains the Gary Hyde managed Cuban sensation, claims the two time Olympic champ will eclipse an amateur career so medal packed, that Rigondeaux is deemed the best to sport a vest and head gear of all time, in the paid circle.
Indeed, the experienced coach predicted EL Chackel will clean up the super bantamweight, featherweight and super featherweight division before retiring as an all time great.
The veteran trainer also boasted, that whilst Big Bang was in his back yard in City West on Saturday night the Cuban is so go good, that the Limerick native was in Rigodeauxs house. And Casey must have been an unwelcome guest as the Cuban got him out as quick as possible.
Rigondeaux is interim world champ and soon he will be regular champ. Then this kid will clean out 122lbs, the 126lbs, 130lbs division before retiring,” Shield’s said after the bout.
Without a doubt he can be pound for pound the best fighter in the world. You all seen that tonight. Casey is a good fighter but not the best fighter in the world and Rigo destroyed him. Casey should be aware he has been in with a potential all time great.
Rigo came to Caseys back yard but Casey was in Rigos house. He took the crowd out of the fight. He used his skill sets from the off. I know anyone that watched the fight and saw Casey, a come forward fighter running, knew he was hurt and knew the fight was over. Rigondeaux is a puncher and a boxer. No one is going to beat this guy believe me. They are ducking him already no one wants to fight him at least Casey got in with him.
