Frampton and Kiko Martinez back on

Barry McGuigan has told Brian Peters to get in contact if he wants to make a European title fight between Kiko Martinez and Carl Frampton for Belfast in September.

Peters initially offered the Belfast prospect a shot at the Spaniard early in the year, but Irish boxing legend, McGuigan turned it down due to what he labelled ‘draconian’ options.

The Dunsaughlin promoter then came back with an ‘option less’ offer over a week ago, which the Clones Cyclone again rebuffed, claiming his charge might needed a little more time before facing the man who  had Bernard Dunne gone in 86 seconds.

However, McGuigan contacted Mirror Sport last night and stated he is ready to make the fight on the condition there are no add-ons or options.

Having reviewed the situation and discussed the fight with Frampton and Gerry Storey he is confident the hot prospect can defeat Martinez and become continental king in just his eleventh fight.

“You can tell Brian Peters to get in touch if he wants to make this fight happen. Indeed if he wants me to get in touch he just has to say the word. Having discussed it with the team we are willing to take him up on his offer provided there are no options like he said. Tell Brian we would be more than delighted to talk under those provisions. We have great respect for Kiko. He is a lovely lad he is a big puncher and a much improved fighter, but we are 100% confident Carl Frampton will beat him.”
