Geraghty: I have a couple of Matchroom fights lined up

DECLAN Geraghty is out to impress anyone that watching not just Eddie Hearn when he fights on a Matchroom promoted Sky Sports Broadcast bill on April 11.

‘Pretty Boy’ always likes to look good and is hoping to catch the eye in Newcastle. The stylists addition to a show topped by MGM stable mate Bradley Saunders sparked rumours suggesting the young Dubliner had been afforded the chance to impress his way onto Matchrooms books. Eddie Hearn has already added Jono Carroll and Luke Keeler to his stable and there were some suggesting Geraghty was to become Dubliner number 3.

When speaking to Irish-boxing.com Geraghty didn’t confirm a Matchroom contract had been signed, but revealed he has secured a number of fights on upcoming Eddie Hearn shows.

“I’ve a great manager (Daniel Kinahan) who has a few fights lined up for me with Matchroom, which I am delighted with.  He looks after me like one of his own and wants what’s best for me,” said Geraghty.

“The Newcastle show is a great show to be on and l’m sure I will impress everyone there. I will be stepping up in class and doing a 6 rounder too, so I am really looking forward to it.”

Geraghty put his disqualification defeat to ‘King Kong’ Carroll behind him with victory last weekend. The former two weight Senior champion out pointed Ibrar Riyaz and was happy with his display.

“I am very happy with how I performed, espically considering I hurt my hand so early in the fight. l boxed smart for all the 6 rounds and got the win. My father and Seamus (Macklin) who both doing my corner we’re happy with how I performed.”
