Dream debut knockout for Katie Tayor
Katie Taylor wowed the Sky Sports cameras this evening in London at the Wembley Arena.
The amateur legend was making her professional debut, in what was a showcase bout of her talents, and took on Poland’s Karolina Kopinska in a scheduled six-round super featherweight contest.
It wouldn’t need the six rounds however, and indeed you only needed ninety seconds to see that Taylor will be a huge success in the professional game, near instantaneously taking the wind from Kopinska’s sails with some hurtful bodyshots
The Pole came out quicker in the second but Taylor soon took control with a stunning left hook combination to the body and head.
Kopinska looked ready to go, and the Wicklow woman would seal the deal in the third, forcing the Pole into the corner and unleashing a barrage of shots, forcing a halt to the bout.
It was a statement win for Taylor, becoming just the second boxer to stop Kopinska after current IBF champion Maiva Hamadouche.
Taylor’s brand new professional record reads a perfect 1(1)-0, while Kopinska drops to 7(2)-15(2)-3.
Next up for Taylor now is another high-profile appearance, this time on the pay-per-view undercard of Anthony Joshua v Eric Molina on December 10th at the Manchester Arena.
