London 2012 Olympic gold medalist Katie Taylor has reportedly agreed to turn professional and will make her debut as soon as next month.

In what looks to be the scoop of the year, Kevin Byrne of the Irish Sun reported this morning that the Bray woman will enter the pro game following a disappointing Rio Olympics where she lost her opening bout to Mira Potkonen.

Taylor will make her debut live on Sky Sports on a Matchroom card at the Wembley Arena on November 26th, although her exact relationship with the Eddie Hearn-headed company going forward is unclear.

Also scheduled to appear on the card in London are Ohara Davies, Reece Bellotti, Martin J Ward, Ted Cheeseman, Craig Richards, Jake Ball, Conor Benn, and a match-up betweene John-Wayne Hibbert and Tommy Coyle.

Taylor leaves the amateur game at the age of 30 with eighteen major medals to her name (Olympic gold, World Championships gold x5, bronze x1, European gold x6, European Games gold, EU gold x5).

She becomes Ireland’s third current pro fighter alongside Lynn Harvey, who boxes former Taylor opponent Mary Romero on the November 5th Red Corner show at the National Stadium, and Christina McMahon, who challenges for Lindaa Laura Lecca’s WBA super flyweight title on the December 3rd FS Promotions show at the National Stadium.
