“I’ll always back you” – Watch Conor McGregor and Katie Taylor embrace post fight
Conor McGregor and Katie Taylor shared a moment just minutes after the WBA and IBF lightweight world champion retained her titles in what one of the free Boston newspapers predicted would be the Irish fighters ‘McGregor moment’.
‘The Notorious’ was in Boston to support the Irish talent on the Matchroom USA card and was a keen observer as Taylor dominated Cidny Serrano at the TD Garden on DAZN and Sky Sports.
The two weight UFC champion is a former Crumlin amateur and has previously turned up at shows to support the likes of Jamie Kavanagh and Dean Byrne, while the MMA star also walked Michael Conlan into the ring ahead of his debut.

The former Floyd Mayweather opponent watched James Tennyson’s brave performance versus Tevin Farmer before becoming a vocal supporter as Taylor whitewashed Puerto Rican Serrano.
Indeed, McGregor went back to the dressing room post-fight to congratulate the ‘Irish hero’ and shared some nice words with a Taylor, a fighter often used as an example of how to hold yourself when the UFC draw produces some controversial comments.
“Youâre a f**king animal!â McGregor is seen saying on an Instagram video he released.
âYouâre nice as pie but youâre ruthless in there, itâs an honour to see you live.
âJust keep doing your thing and Iâll have your back, Iâll always back you, whatever you need. Itâs an honour for me to see you live, youâre an Irish hero.”
