Luke Wilton ensured a fittingly explosive end to a small but cracking Belfast Promotions show last Saturday night and is now planning an instant move to bigger and better things.

The flyweight had opponent Salim Salimov on all fours just 34 seconds into round three after employing a double hook to the body he stole from hero Ricky Hattons play book.

And after impressively going about his business in the Holiday Inn the Belfast fighter, who looks to have improved under the guidance of Bernardo Checa, stressed he wants a British title fight next.

Winky, who like fellow Belfast flyweight Jamie Conlan has long been linked with the British belt, will be ringside at Chris Edwards and Paul Edwards domestic title dust up and will call out the winner after the Liverpool hosted fight.

Speaking after his eighth win the 23 year old Frank Maloney promoted fly said.

Bring on the winner of Paul Edwards and Chris Edwards now. I think Chris Edwards wins that and I want him next. Why not? I am going over to watch the fight in Liverpool and I will call the winner out over there. If I cant get that fight I will go for Ashley Sexton. I think I would have destroyed him in his last fight. He is calling for a British title shot too, but the lad I beat tonight went the distance with him. Sexton is a fight I would take. Hopefully I will get the title shot before the end of the year. Everyone above me in the ratings has a title so I deserve a shot, he added before commenting on how he finished his nights work.

Body punching is what I love to do. I used to watch a lot of Ricky Hatton and I love the double left hook to the body. Getting hit in the body hurts more than getting caught in the head. I am sitting down on my shots now and feel more powerful at the weight. Working with Bernardo has been good.

Whilst willing Wilton is ready to jump in with either Edwards as soon as he can his new trainer Checa would like to see him have one or two more fights before the upgrade.

The Panamanian trainer has been impressed with he has seen he took Wiltons reigns but would prefer two quick fire bouts before the Belfast fighter challenges for the British strap.

Another one or two fights and he will be ready for a British title fight. I would like to see him in action more often He would benefit from being busy. There is to big of a gap between fights I would like to see him out as soon as possible. He could fight next month he is ready to go again. I would also like to see him against opponents that can give him a few rounds. Luke works well in the gym. He is learning and he is young and the future is bright for him.
