It’s a very important week ahead for Irish boxing, with plenty of fighters in action.

First of all there are the Women’s European Championships in Bulgaria which start today, and the World Youth Championships in St Petersburg which start on Thursday, as well as the ongoing National Senior (Intermediate) Championships in Dublin.

Starting us off on Friday afternoon will be Waterford light middleweight Rohan Daté [1(1)-0] who faces Ghanaian Stephen Okine at the Ahdaaf Sports Club in Dubai.

Then, on Friday night at the Wembley Arena in London, Belfast’s Paddy Gallagher [10(6)-2(0)] takes on Tamuka Mucha in a British welterweight title eliminator.

On the same card in London, which is headlined by George Groves v Eduard Gutknecht, Coalisland middleweight Conrad Cummings [10(4)-0-1] faces a decent test against German Ronnie Mittag.

London-Cork welterweight Dan-Dan Keenan [3(0)-0] also appears, with the 19 year old taking on Edward French.

Up in Manchester at the Victoria Warehouse on Friday there is a return to the ring for Dublin-Manchester featherweight Ryan Doyle [13(7)-1(1)-1], as well as light welter Kofi Yates [13(1)-2(0)], both against opponent’s to-be-confirmed.

We stay at the Victoria Warehouse on Saturday for the big one, with Belfast’s Tommy McCarthy [9(5)-0] taking on English champion Matty Askin in a British cruiserweight final eliminator.

McCarthy’s managerial and training stable-mate Anto Cacace [14(7)-0] will also be in action on the card, with the Andersonstown super feather up against a to-be-confirmed foe.

Across the water in the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, there is action for Cork welter Noely Murphy [6(2)-0] who takes on Mohamed Allam over six.

Finally, up in Canada at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, super featherweight Josh ‘Dubsy’ O’Reilly [6(1)-0] is up against Angel Sarinana in his first eight rounder.
