WBC homecoming title fight for free agent Victor Rabei?

Victor Rabei [8(2)-0] is hoping to announce an exciting WBC ranking title fight in the coming days.

A free agent having had his Assassin Promotions contract handed back by the Boxing Union of Ireland, the BUI Celtic champion has so far done well representing himself.

The light welterweight prospect revealed he is in talks about a WBC CISBB title fight and appearing on a show in the country of his birth, Moldova.

When speaking to Irish-Boxing.com about his future while revealing his promoters were banned from operating in Ireland the Moldovan Dub was in relaxed mood.

Not only does ‘Slick Vic’ believe he may survive without promotional backing for the remainder of the year, he believes he is an attractive prospect for prospective managers and promoters.

Before Christmas comes around he may appear that bit more appealing, as it appears he is close to securing another title fight.

Granted the WBC  CIS and Slovenian Boxing Bureau  title isn’t the most high profile of belts on the market, but it is one that could help him make a push for a WBC ranking.

“I’ve spoke to a promoter from Moldova and he is going to run a show at the end of September, early October. We talked about fighting for the WBC CISSBB belt over 10 rounds,” Rabei told Irish-Boxing.com.

“The show is not announced yet, but I should have more details in the next few weeks.”

If the fight does come off the Steven O’Rourke-trained fighter will also get the chance to fight in his country of birth for the first time- and that is something that excites.

“I love going back to Moldova, I visit a lot and have a lot of friends there. It would be unbelievable to fight where I was born. Boxing is a loved sport so I know the support is going to be amazing.”

Rabei was last seen in the ring on the Summer Brawl show in May not long after he outpointed Jake Hanney live on TG4. He out pointed Lester Cantillano on that Belfast show that also hosted fights for Feargal McCrory, Cathy McAleer, Tommy McCarthy and recent world title challenger James Tennyson.
