WATCH – Joe Fitzpatrick’s next opponent knocks out warm-up foe with massive ELBOW

Iagos Barros comes to Belfast next month on the back of a massive knockout win- although it wasn’t registered in the boxing ring.

The ever game Spaniard will fight Joe Fitzpatrick at the top of what looks an entertaining Celtic Clash 9 card, at the Devenish on October 12.

The pair will battle it out for the BUI lightweight Celtic Title in Belfast.

The eager to fight Barros warmed up for the fight by stepping into the K1 ring over the weekend.

Show promoters Boxing Ireland must have had concerns with regard to Martin Quinn’s former foe getting injured or cut, but they need not have worried as Barros won and did so in emphatic knockout fashion.

Fighting in the away corner in Portugal, Barros registered a big win with a stoppage coming via a spinning elbow.

Take a look below:

Although he won’t be allowed to use his elbow come October 12, Barros will be looking to register a similar upset win.

Speaking to Irish-boxing.com when the fight was announced he expressed his desire to claim the strap.

“Iā€™m excited about this title now. I won titleā€™s in kickboxing, K1 and Muay Thai. This will be my first title in boxing, and I really want to win it.”

In saying that the Spanish fighter wasn’t aware any title was on the line when he signed for the fight.

ā€œI donā€™t know anything about Joe. I hope he is a clean athlete and we both enjoy the fight,ā€ he continued before claiming further ignorance this time with regard to the title on the line.Ā

ā€œThe truth is that I learned that it was a title a few days after accepting the fight.I just hope he and his fans enjoy the fight.ā€

The Fitzpatrick Barros title fight will top the ninth installment of the Celtic Clash series.

Recent Irish title challenger Stephen McAfee was confirmedĀ  on the card over the weekend.

‘Showtime’ will lookĀ  for a return to winning ways after his TV defeat to Eric Donovan at the National Stadium in March.
