VOTE: The Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month – OCTOBER

Following a busy October, it’s time for The Liffey Crane Hire Boxer of the Month.

There was plenty of action in both the amateurs and pros giving us an extended shortlist.

Without further ado, the 18 nominees are listed below and, as always, voting will be open until midnight Thursday.

Gary Cully
Having seen a title fight fall through, the Naas lightweight made a major statement with a third-round stoppage of game away fighter Jordan Ellison.

Paddy Gallagher
The Lenadoon welterweight returned from a double jaw break with a stoppage win over Jay Byrne to claim the BUI Celtic light middleweight title.

Marco McCullough
The Shankill super feather showed his skill and his grit to defeat Spanish veteran Ruddy Encarnacion in Belfast. Having won the first half of the bout handily, McCullough was hurt but managed to drop Encarnacion before surviving a knockdown and a torrid period himself only to finish strong.

Padraig McCrory
The St James’s super middleweight took a bout with former amateur rival Sean McGlinchey on just 24 hours notice – as did the Derry fighter – and scored a decisive win, dropping ‘Mummy’s Bhoy’ in the fourth and final round of a fire-fight.

Tyrone McCullagh
The Derry super bantamweight dominated English champion Josh Kennedy to win the WBO European belt and take a #15 ranking with the organisation. It was a boxing clinic in the headline fight of the Belfast BoxNation show.

Francy Luzoho
The Blanchardstown welter made his professional debut on the ‘Rise Again’ bill in Tallaght and went straight in in a big fight. Taking on England’s Sam Jones, ‘The Butcher Boy’ stole the show with a stunning third round stoppage.

Ellie Mai-Gartland
The Clonmel 54kg boxer stormed to European Junior gold out in Anapa, winning all three of her fights by 5-0 unanimous decision and marking herself out as one to watch for the future.

Lauren Dempsey
The Kildare 57kg also claimed gold out in Russia, scoring a stunning 3-2 split-decision win in the final over rangy home favourite Azalia Aminyova in one of the results of the tournament.

Jason Quigley
The Donegal middleweight headlined a Golden Boy on ESPN card in L.A. and was drawn into a war by Mexican veteran Freddy Hernandez but managed to see out a win.

Gabriel Dossen
The Galway middleweight took top prize at the Eindhoven Box Cup, winning the Best Boxer Award and beating an Olympian in the process.

Tony Browne
The Rathmines heavyweight won gold at the Eindhoven Box Cup and scored the result of the tournament become the first person to beat Dutch Olympian Peter Mullenburg in Holland.

Michael Avetisian
The Swords light welter underlined his elite credentials with gold in Eindhoven following three wins over three national champions.

Mike Perez
The Cork-Cuban cruiser secured a reserve spot for the World Boxing Super Series quarter-finals with a competitive but clear win over strong Puerto Rican Keith Tapia in Florida which saw him pick up the WBC Fedelatin rankings title.

Mick Conlan
The Falls featherweight put on the most complete performance of his pro career to date, breaking down Italian Nicola Cipoletta in Las Vegas and scoring a seventh round stoppage.

Niall Kennedy
The Wexford heavweight rebounded from his first career hiccup, a draw, to dominate and defeated undefeated U.S. brawler Brendan Barrett on the undercard of the big Matchroom DAZN show in Boston.

James Tennyson
The Poleglass super featherweight went out on his shield versus IBF world champion Tevin Farmer, forcing their fight in Boston but coming undone by body shots. While obviously in pain, ‘The Assassin’ looked to continue but was stopped, some argue early, by referee Arthur Mercante.

Katie Taylor
The subject of a new, critically-acclaimed, documentary, Taylor dominated Puerto Rican Cindy Serrano in defence of her WBA and IBF titles in Boston, one of the most one-sided world title fights you are ever likely to see.

Rohan Daté
The Waterford light welter sent out a statement, becoming the quickest man to stop teak tough Nigerian Innocent Anyanwu, blasting out the Dutch-based veteran inside three rounds following two knockdowns.
