Victor Rabei handed very tough debut fight

Victor Rabei debuts in Dublin later this month, and an extremely testing opponent has been confirmed for the youngster.

The Moldovan-born light welterweight fights on the Red Corner ‘For Honour and Pride’ card at the National Stadium on June 24th and will face Chris Adaway [7(1)-29(5)-4].

The 23 year old Plymouth puncher is known as a game away fighter, has upset a number of prospects, and ran many more close.

In his most recent fight, two weeks ago, Adaway stopped 3-0 prospect Sam Jones. Also in 2017 the Devon man has drawn with Ben Owen (1-0) and Mike Cole (3-0).

Last year, in what was then a step up for ‘The Mighty Celt,’ Tyrone McKenna outpointed Adaway over six in Cardiff.

Rabei, who will become the first fighter to take on Adaway in their debut, is thought extremely highly of by promoters Red Corner and bouts with Dubliners Stephen Carroll and Sean Creagh have already been mooted.

Also on the card at the end of the month is Ray Moylette, Thomas Finnegan, Allan Phelan, and Irish title fights between Luke Keeler and Darren Cruise at middleweight and Paddy McDonagh and Stevie Collins Jr at light heavyweight.

Tickets for the June 24th show cost €40 (general) and €60 (ringside) and are available from the boxers involved.
